Show Selective Formatting Marks in Microsoft Word

You are probably aware that MS Word allows you to show formatting by using the button on the ribbon in Word 2007.

Sometimes, it can be distracting to show all formatting when you only need to check one formatting element such as tabs or spaces.

Word 2007 allows you to show individual formatting elements; click the office button then options at the bottom right. Choose Display and the option to permanently show formatting marks is revealed.

Check the box of the formatting you wish to see and then OK in the bottom right corner. If you don’t need the formatting shown permanently, simply uncheck the box when you’ve finished checking your document.

Older versions of Word have a similar option; choose Options from the Tools menu; select the View tab; check the box of the formatting you wish to see and then click on OK.
